A privately owned company based in Hamilton, New Zealand, APL was started in 1971 and has several major brands of exterior joinery which are marketed throughout NZ- Altherm, First, Vantage, Smartwood and the Architectural Series. These ranges have their own distinctive features and applications

APL designs and tests its proprietary systems and also has an on-site aluminium extrusion plant (INEX) and surface finishing facilities (FINEX and Colourworks). This vertical integration controlling all aspects of supply from design, extrusion, testing and surface treatment of profiles was driven by APL ’s desire to ensure optimum quality control at all points of the production and distribution chain.

The company’s own distribution fleet services its network of over 75 fabricators nationwide. APL branch offices are maintained in Auckland and Christchurch.
