Architecturally inspired systems for superior style and performance

The stunning views of the Collaroy Plateau formed the inspiration for this luxurious beachside development. As far as the eye can see, nothing but blue ocean and natural beauty greet visitors to this enviable location.

Originally the site of an old house, the previous structure was demolished to make way for four new luxury homes. Having previously worked with builder, Bayview Links, on other projects - with outstanding results - Hanlon Windows was involved from the outset to provide expertise in selecting a window and door system suitable for the location. Built using concrete and brick, the buildings are designed over three levels, with basement-garaging for two to three cars. Other features include room for a gym or home theatre, four bedrooms, a study, multiple bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, a ground-level pool and landscaped gardens.

The sheer volume of windows and doors required close attention to energy-efficient window systems, to ensure optimum thermal comfort levels. Perched by the edge of the sea, the project also demanded the use of Low E laminate glass for superior solar control and minimal reflection. In addition, to meet BASIX requirements the windows and doors had to achieve low U-values. The combination of Viridian’s ComfortPLUS Neutral and SolTech glass in Elevate™ Architectural Series aluminium frames provide the perfect solution and exceed the levels required to pass the thermal efficiency section of BASIX. The large windows on the northern side give easy access to winter sun which heats up the internal concrete slabs. This heat is stored during the day and released in the evening. The use of high-performance window systems allows better retention of the heat gain within the internal spaces. Abundant full-height windows assists in this process whilst adding to the feeling of connectivity between outside and inside.

Elevate™ Series 704 SlideMASTER™ doors were used to great effect in the open-plan living areas. With their ability to be manufactured in a corner configuration, the SlideMASTER™ doors incorporate clever design and require no corner support. This maximises the size of the opening and allows better air flow through the home. Elevate™ Series 400 Louvre windows also ensure effective cross-ventilation and promote passive cooling. The Architectural Series products used on this project are both modern and meticulous in their design. Their shapes reflect the designer’s preference for clean, flush surfaces, continuous sightlines and square-edge forms.

The Elevate™ Architectural Series is also able to achieve exceptional weather and strength performance. Given the homes’ level of exposure to the elements, this was an extremely important consideration. Other products used include Elevate™ Series 462 Sliding Windows, Series 467 Awning Windows, Series 400 Fixed Windows, and AWS MIRO™ Hardware. The owner was very impressed with the quality and service afforded by Hanlon Windows, saying, “Their sales and customer service team are the most experienced in the business and I can’t fault the quality of products installed in my project. Hanlon have lifted the bar in the window industry, they have been a pleasure to deal with and I have already recommended them to other property developers looking for upmarket windows and doors for their projects.”
