Architecturally inspired systems for superior style and performance

Pearl Beach is a beautiful beachside village, nestled in the New South Wales Central Coast. Very true to its name, Pearl Peach is a ‘gem’ located on the western shoreline of Broken Bay, sharing the peninsula with nearby Patonga.

Unlike its neighbouring suburbs, Pearl Beach is unique as it has not seen rapid growth in the last 30 years. Instead, the suburb has slowly increased in population and is now home to approximately 400 residents. Most homes in the picturesque suburb have been purposely constructed to blend with the local vegetation which, over the years, has been maintained mostly in its original pristine condition. The appearance of the town to most visitors is one of bushland with houses rather than the expected opposite.

When Ian Martin from Patonga Design came to Superior Windows, he had a strict brief for the beachfront project. The home was to be a ‘homely’ and comfortable holiday house that also suited the Central Coast’s weathering conditions. The home backs onto the intertwining bush and beach which allows for extraordinary views. They wanted to utilise these views with large spanning windows, however, due to the size of the glass, thermal efficiency and durability came into the criteria. Superior Windows’ main objective for the Pearl Beach project was to ensure the highest quality workmanship for this impeccable property.

To ensure perfection, Superior suggested double glazing to ensure resistance from the ever-changing coastal weather. This suggestion was taken on board for the project and double glazing was used on windows and doors throughout the property. By double glazing the windows and doors throughout the house, it enabled the builders to incorporate large spans of glass whilst maintaining good thermal efficiency to maximise the comfort of the living spaces. The large windows also allowed for a greater use of natural light and enhanced the connection with the outdoors. In order to take complete advantage of the surrounding ocean and bush views, Series 410 FoldMASTER™ Bi-Fold Doors were used to maximise tropical breezes and views.

The Bi-Fold Doors make for a dramatic feature in the home, allowing the indoor living area to spill into the outdoors. When the doors are folded, they disappear and create a seamless, large entertaining area. Similarly, to achieve a seamless flow between the home’s interior and exterior, as well as its lush surroundings, Series 704 SlideMASTER™ Doors were used throughout the face of the building, so when the doors are open ventilation is perfect and the outdoor patio area combines with the indoor living space. By respecting the surrounding elements, fulfilling the brief and maximising exposure to the surrounding tropics, Superior Windows has enabled this home to fulfill the brief of making the most of the view through carefully selected and custom designed window and door combinations.

This home fulfills the brief of making the most of the view through carefully selected and custom designed window and door combinations.
