This modern inner city residence is located in the upmarket suburb of Kingston, Australian Capital Territory.

Kingston is renowned for its trendy cafes, boutique lifestyle and residences that are a few minutes walk from the water. When clients Garry and Glenys decided to build a magnificent new home, they were eager to make the most of their spectacular location. The couple agreed on using highly experienced builders and architects for their build, to ensure quality and design was paramount before, during and after the build. TT Architecture, alongside Matthew Hall from Build Professional Pty Ltd, were chosen for the job of designing and building Garry and Glenys’ residence. Both the architects and builders followed the couple’s instructions closely as the pair had many of their own ideas and design inspirations they wanted fulfilled in their own home.

The project brief was quite strict; it was vital to the clients that the home was to encompass as much sunlight as possible without compromising on the home’s overall heating and cooling efficiency. The new home was to also encourage indoor/outdoor living as much as possible, with large spanning living spaces that opened onto courtyard style outdoor areas. Due to much of the couple’s brief surrounding themes of light and space, TT Architecture and Build Professional Pty Ltd realised the project required an experienced window and door manufacturer to be able to satisfy the requirement for light.

Garry and Glenys visited Wagga Wagga manufacturers Viewco Glass’ stand at the HIA Home Centre in Fyshwick (ACT) and Glenys decided she loved the AWS range of aluminium windows and doors appearance and features, and appreciated Viewco Glass’ helpful nature and eagerness to assist. Viewco Glass are able to manufacture the Vantage and Elevate™ ranges which allowed the client to choose various aluminium window and door combinations throughout the home. Standard residential products and designer products were chosen from the Vantage range. Where large spans of glazing or bold thick frames were required, various products from the Elevate™ Aluminium Systems commercial range of aluminium were utilised. Double glazing was used throughout the home to ensure the large glass spans didn’t compromise the thermal efficiency of the home.

The standout product which the clients were most pleased with is the Elevate™ Series 411 ViewMASTER™ Bi-fold door. The Bi-fold door is top hung for smooth operation, with a flush sill and rebated drain to remove the step from the indoor dining area out to the outdoor BBQ dining space. Viewco Glass worked closely with Matthew Hall from Build Professional Pty Ltd to come up with solutions to various structural problems the clients encountered. Upon completion of the project, the clients, builder and architect all congratulated Viewco Glass on their excellent job in creating a combination of windows and doors that assisted in fulfilling their overall project brief.
