Above The Treetops

This amazing designer home is located in the private and exclusive ‘Treetops on Birdwood’ enclave, and the name speaks for itself. This home is a one of a kind: it is located in the only large lot development within five kilometres of Brisbane’s CBD, making its rural yet city lifestyle location even more desirable for people wanting to join the estate.

The home is perched on top of a 45 degree slope, and is one of only 14 homes to be built within the eight acre ‘Treetops on Birdwood’ estate. The property is surrounded by bushland, therefore the client knew his brief would be difficult to fulfil by any construction company. The home was designed by Artas Architects and Cunningham Designs. It was then built by D Pearce Constructions, with interiors designed by Kym Carter Designs. D Pearce Constructions were chosen to undertake the enormous and difficult task of completing this project as they are renowned for their experience in completing difficult and unique jobs to a high quality standard.

The client’s brief was straightforward, yet compelling. He wanted to create a spectacular house for a remarkable location with high quality finishes on a low budget. The outstanding property has views of up to 100 kilometres, and the most important element of the brief was to ensure these views were maximised - they are, after all, the main feature of the location. D Pearce Constructions chose Bretts Doors & Windows to complete the vast task of supplying and installing aluminium windows and doors throughout the home.

Bretts were chosen for the enormous project due to their ability to custom make a large varity of residential aluminium windows and doors for this project, depending on the style and function of the particular room. The standout feature of this home is the Vantage Series 618 MAGNUM™ Sliding Door, that disappears into the wall cavity. This large door creates the ultimate living space, combining the inside kitchen and dining area with the outside deck. Vantage Series 525 LouvreMASTER™ windows were utilised throughout the entire house, due to their stylish appearance and ability to maximise the tree-top breeze throughout the home. Other Vantage products that were used include the Series 542 DStacker™ Sliding Doors, and Series 616 MAGNUM™ Awning and Casement windows, which both open completely, allowing for maximum ventilation. Bretts Doors & Windows were commended on their ability to supply a range of windows and doors that were stylish yet highly functional.

All windows and doors were screened with aluminium mesh screens to meet BAL 12.5 construction requirements. The completed project is spectactular and inspiring. It proves to be the very best in contemporary luxury in elevated natural splendour creating a world of peace, serenity, privacy and exclusivity. The project went on to win the 2012 Abode House of The Year for Best Construction on a difficult site and received a highly commended award from the Australian Window Association.
