Chamberlaine Close

The unusual size and location of this residential project required a combination of smart design and product choice to create an environmentally-friendly and ultra-modern home. As the recipient of eighteen prestigious building awards in the last three years, Scott James was called in to undertake this unique build at Chamberlaine Close in historic Albury. His attention to detail, love of smooth, clean lines, and commitment to energy-efficiency saw the project named North East Victoria Regional Home of the Year.

As well as striving to achieve a showcase of contemporary design and energy efficiency, the owners wanted to utilise the aesthetic appeal of large expanses of glass, and modern, clean lines. Large, bold window openings throughout the entire home created a thoroughly modern connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. Low-E glass and double glazing were selected to achieve the perfect balance of thermal performance. Given the builder’s understanding of the entire energy cycle and his focus on outstanding end-results, he insisted on using products from the Vantage Aluminium range, sourced from DLG Windows & Doors in Albury.

One of the advantages these systems bring to a project is their ability to integrate double glazing. All Vantage window and door systems can be double glazed, with standard aluminium frames accepting IGUs up to 24mm. Thermally Broken systems can accept IGUs up to 32mm. The DLG team are experts in the manufacture of Double Glazed Vantage systems, and the builder was confident in their strong knowledge and product quality. One of the most arresting features of this home is a stunning central swimming pool surrounded by floor-to-ceiling Magnum fixed windows, fitted with 24mm IGUs. The Vantage Magnum product was chosen for its unique design and integrated sub-sill. This ensured fixed framing could be easily installed without an additional sub-sill.

Other Vantage products used included Series 549 Entry Door, and Magnum 616 Awning windows fitted with electronic Connel winders for ease of use. Elevate™ Aluminium Systems Doors were also used throughout the project to achieve the large sliding door spans which captivate attention as you make your way through the home’s living areas. The owners are extremely happy with the results, and with window quality that clearly surpasses that of a typical residential construction.
