Turning heads since their completion in October last year, the West End Riverside Townhouses are a fantastic example of the contemporary Australian architecture which is increasingly gaining prominence amongst the Brisbane cityscape. These stunning riverside apartments designed by LT Design Architects showcase both simplicity and style, blending modern building materials and finishes, open plan living and unique geometric forms to create three truly sensational residences.

Large bold expanses of glazing form a dominant feature throughout the West End Townhouses. Builder Picasso Design Homes were keen to engage a window manufacturer who could work collaboratively with them on the project providing technical support, advice and direction on the ideal way to approach the large and in many cases unique glazing requirements.

Impact Aluminium Windows and doors were able to provide the level of support and technical backup the clients were looking for and were quickly recognised as the ideal candidates to manage the glazing requirements for the project.

Impact worked extensively with both LT Design Architects and Picasso Design Homes to ensure all project requirements were met. Energy efficient glass and high performance window systems were identified as key elements of the project.The Vantage range of windows and doors offers a diverse range of systems to satisfy the individual requirements of the project.

The unusual design of the living areas in the apartments called for customised glazing solutions. Following the curved contours of the foyer and living areas Impact AWD created a series of custom windows with angled joins to create a dramatic aesthetic. Light streams into the large expanses of glazing creating an open and light filled living space. Angled horizontal and vertical windows follow the buildings contours up the internal staircase achieving a unique harmony of light and balance.

The designers set out to achieve a clean and modern aesthetic, the selection of Vantage Designer Series windows and doors throughout the project ensured a bold, clean style was maintained. Designer Series windows are based on a 102mm frame platform and are developed with aesthetic unity in mind, clean lines, flat fillers and integrated accessories ensure a simple uncluttered and modern finish which was ideal for this project.

Given the large expanses of glazing featured thought the project it was imperative that high performance glass and frame combinations be selected to maintain interior comfort levels . Impact’s technical team worked with designers to select glass and frame combinations which would deliver excellent thermal and efficiency outcomes. All Vantage window and door systems are rated for their energy performance which enables clients to make informed decisions about the energy impact of the windows and doors they select for their project.
