David and Joan McLean’s brief was clear; maximise the famous East Beach views in a comfortable, contemporary single-level home that could accommodate children and grandchildren for family gatherings. The owners collaborated with local design business Form and Function, builder Tom Taylor and Portland Aluminium and Glass to achieve their dream home for retirement.
The ThermalHEART™ range was the perfect choice for their home, meeting energy efficiency and N3 wind loading requirements. The clean, bold frame provides a simple and stylish aesthetic while housing large expanses of glass.
The Series 726 Thermally Broken Fixed Windows within the living room are the wow factor of this home. Incorporating ThermalHEART™ technology, the innovative polyamide insulator strip gives a true thermal break between the outside and inside faces.
ThermalHEART™ systems are up to 33% more thermally efficient than traditional aluminium windows and doors. When combined with low-e glass, it performs even better.
ThermalHEART™ also provides unprecedented colour flexibility with the option of alternate colours internally and externally. A Bi-Parting Centor Screen accommodates the entire 5.6m expanse of the sliding door in the living room.
