Architecturally inspired systems for superior style and performance

Carlton Warehouse

Carlton warehouse alludes a touch of history. A unique, private house built on a site bounded by the walls of a former industrial building with a garden on two sides in inner city Carlton.

From the outside, it gives a sense of creativity, the unknown and wonder. What’s behind the colourful façade? Behind it you ask? An industrial and modern interior with sleek black aluminium windows and doors to allow natural light to flow in.

From the very beginning, the client was interested in the view. She knew exactly the heights and widths the windows needed to be to frame the view beautifully. Natural light was also important which is why living areas are on the top floor.

Carlton Warehouse was designed as a sequence of spaces. The experience is important as you move through the home. A series of terraces provide alternate routes to the garden, again contributing to the overall experience of the home. A private home in a garden which spirals up to a glazed eyrie looking over Melbourne.

Elevate Series 704 Slidemaster sliding door was chosen because of the large panel width needed to frame the view. The extra strong multi-hollow meeting stiles allow large sliding doors to be fabricated in high wind load areas. This product also has a unique, self-draining sub-sill.
