Architecturally inspired systems for superior style and performance

"The doors open the whole house up, left to right, backwards and sidewards, meaning that you can move anywhere that you like"

Shelley Craft

Owner, TV Presenter

Built on the site of the old whaling station at Belongil Beach, Byron Bay is the industrial style beach home of Australian television personality, Shelley Craft. “It was a vision of what we think is the quintessential Byron Bay beach house,” says Shelley.

Collaborating with Shelley, her husband Christian and architect Paul Uhlmann, SGA Architectural Window Solutions supplied custom window options throughout the entirety of the home. This included automated louvres to provide crossflow of light and air from the house to the bedrooms and an incredible custom glass wall to compliment the asymmetrical roof.

The main feature of this home, however, is the large sliding doors connecting the living area to the backyard. “The doors open the whole house up, left to right, backwards and sidewards, mean that you can move anywhere that you like,” says Shelley.

Shelley chose the Series 704B SlideMASTER™ Sliding Door due to the minimal sill. “We’ve got this amazing seamless threshold finish, so there’s not even a transition from indoor to out.” The low line sill can be seamlessly recessed into the floor for a smooth transition between inside and outside living spaces. This door is available in a range of configurations including single and double sliding door panels, bi-parting sliding doors and corner sliding doors.

The Series 704B SlideMASTER™ Sliding Door features the MIRO™ D-Pull Sliding Door Handle. Bold and stylish, the MIRO™ D-Pull Sliding Door Handle offers simplicity and practicality with its soft rounded edges for easy accessibility. “We went with the MIRO™ handle due it’s amazing Enduratec™ finish, which is ten times more corrosion resistant than any standard finish and is great for living on the coast,” says Shelley.
