At AWS we recognise the significant contribution emerging architects make to the profession. That's why we've thrown our weight behind the Australian Institute of Architects Emerging Architects prize as the inaugural sponsor of this wonderful award.
The Emerging Architects Prize was developed to recognise an individual emerging architect or architectural collaboration’s contribution to architectural practice, education, design excellence and community involvement, which advances the professions role within the public arena.
We were excited to join Architects from around Australia at this years Achievement in Architecture awards in Hobart, where we had the very great pleasure of presenting the 2013 Emerging Architect Prize winner, Andrew Burns with this prestigious award.
The jury citation states: 'While the emergence of Andrew Burns has been seemingly rapid and spectacular; this belies a gestation in private practice of some six years and, prior to that, the development of strong foundations working for leading practices over a ten year period. Andrew is an excellent ambassador for the advancement of the architectural profession within the public arena both locally and internationally. We keenly anticipate his considered and thoughtful future contributions.'
It is with great pleasure that AWS can share with you today a wonderful little video capturing a unique idea from this years winner of the Emerging Architect Prize Andrew Burns. This is the second video in the PERSPECTIVES video series filmed and produced by SRH communications and sponsored by AWS, these unique short films capture a viewpoint on architecture from the perspective of one architectural mind sharing it with the profession in the hope of broadening awareness and creating architectural dialogue.
