Architecturally inspired systems for superior style and performance

BDAV 2015 Building Design Awards | ThermalHEART | AWS

On the 25th July, the 2015 BDAV Design Awards were held at the Great Hall in the National Gallery of Victoria. Victoria’s finest building designers gathered for a night of celebration and the venue could not have been more perfect to celebrate the 20th annual awards.

With an outstanding number of entrants and quality of projects entered, our window and door systems feature in a number of projects and a number of projects which were awarded.

Coastal Exposure by Designers By Nature took out a staggering three awards. Windows and doors were installed by AWS fabricator, Portland Aluminium and Glass.

Coastal Exposure won Building Design of the Year 2015. This project also took out the award for Residential Design / New Houses / $500K to $1M construction cost and also Excellence / Use of glass

This project demonstrates how the need for responding to the environmental surroundings is of high importance when designing. With spectacular coastal views, one would assume large panels of glass would be implemented to showcase the view. Instead, windows were cleverly implemented between exposed framing of the external walls. From the interior, the view remains the vocal point.

Residential Design/New Houses/ up to $300Kwas awarded to Beaumont Concepts Trentham Project. AWS fabricator Talum Windows have worked with Beaumont Concepts a number of times including on Modular House. You can watch our Designer Notes on Modular House here

Trentham Project demonstrates sustainable design principles within a tight budget whilst achieving an eight-star energy rating.

Residential Design / New Houses / $300K to $500Kwent to another Beaumont Concepts design, Silverleaves Project. AWS fabricator JAG Windows installed the windows and doors on this project.

The main entertaining and living spaces face north so that the spaces are filled with natural light.

Another project JAG Windows worked on, Urban Oasis Townhouse, by Peter Searle Design won the award Residential Design / New Houses / Best Small Lot Design. Large panelled bi-fold doors were used to connect the interior and exterior of this 144 square metre lot.
